Painter 11 Versus Photoshop CS5

For an illustrator probably the most important news Photoshop CS5 is the introduction and management of new brush painting. I always used Painter to paint, but undoubtedly the release of the new Adobe has aroused curiosity in me. To see how it works I decided to create a sketch by Painter 11 and then try to reproduce it in Photoshop CS5. What follows is a review in the strict sense, we say that what I write is based on my way to work and therefore those who have different un'approccio concerning my coloring may well have an opinion different from mine!
Iniziamo:

Corel Painter 11

To achieve this sketch I mainly used the blender tool and acrylic opaque detail brush. You can see the video of the construction here:

Photoshop CS5:

With Photoshop I used the Tools Brush mixture color, hard round brush tool and various default artistic brush.
Here the video:

Considerations:
Undoubtedly Photoshop has improved substantially with regard to digital painting. The introduction of the brush mixture color is something really pleasant and helpful and even artistic brushes are well made.
Despite all the Painter's blender works better, fading color in a more 'natural. Painter brushes are also more configurable. With opacity instead works best program from Adobe, brushes work better and become more 'or less transparent depending on the value that we can give, while Painter is not always the value of transparency give equal amounts to a visual rendering.

Finally I found it better to use Painter because it allowed me to get what I wanted in less time and with an excellent result for me, which I could with Photoshop.
Nevertheless I can not criticize the Adobe about digital painting. Has made great strides in this direction and I'm sure will improve further in future releases.
But I can immediately go on to recommend Corel Painter who cares about painting digitally, hoping that the next version of Corel program supports 64-bit.

Considerazioni:
